Rusty Jones: "If you see it you can paint it," says Rusty Jones. Explore the challenge and rewards that come from painting outdoors. Rusty will teach you how to develop paintings though the use of sound composition, appropriate value relationships, strong color choices and the proper use of edges. You will learn to intrepret the landscape, how to edit extraneous elements from the scene and enjoy the spontaneity of plein air painting.

The focus of this workshop will be on the process of achieving success paintings outdoors. This is not to be confused with developing a set of rules. It is rather the process of painting in an orderly fashion by laying in the large landscape forms, followed by harmonizing the scene through the use of controlled detail, color and value relationships, using hard and soft edges, using clean color and learning how to walk the viewer through your painting.

Rusty will share his years of outdoor painting experience to help you develop a simplified approach to choosing subject matter, mixing paint, applying paint to the canvas and captivating the viewer. There will be daily demonstrations, individual attention and plenty of time to paint.
